When I was a kid (age 5-6), our TV remote control somehow got lost. And my parents never got a new one. Instead, they use my brother and me as a remote control.😀
Either one of us sat close to the TV and ready to receive commands :
“Change the volume,” Like Alexa. Actually, we were better than Alexa. We were having a back and forth conversation. “Is it enough”? “Little more, ha tamam (ok)!”
“ Let’s see what the other channels have it? “ (Shuffle mode🤪); going channel by channel, don’t wait more or less than 3 seconds. You have to be very precise. Thank God, we had only 16 channels as far as I remember it.
When I was 13-14 years old, I was walking on the street, I saw one electronic shop and discovered “Universal Remote Control.” I asked him, “ Is this works out for our TV? (We had BEKO). He nodded. That is it! He didn’t even think that that is a question, so he didn’t feel to answer it. 😠
Anyway, I came home and showed my mom what I got. Our entire household was so excited. Now, none of us ever needed to do anything with TV. Uninterrupted TV nights were waiting for us. We could lay down and watch anything we want….
When you mentioned Beko, I felt happy in a different way :) regarding the relationship with the company(Arçelik) and its global brand(Beko) that I am working for.
Now, you don't need to have a remote control :) you can change channels by nodding.
I mean, nodding still an important action for TV 😀
When I read this, my grandmother came to my mind, she always sat close to the TV because she broke the remote. I would come and fix it.
